Last year this is how the playoffs looked about this time of year. Now the Cowboys are in much better shape to capture the NFC title. The playoffs are set and the NFC East comes limping into the playoffs. Many people are placing bets with online casinos for the title game coming up.Dallas looks to get an early exit after their awful play the last few weeks. The NY Giants backed their way into the playoffs. After starting off 6-2, they then lost 6 of their last 7. I just finished reading, Now, Discover your strengths, and can say that this is a must read for all those who manage people. There is a special website and code on the back of the book cover that will allow you to take a simple test to discover your strengths, and then how to hone and sharpen those strengths. The basic premise is that we need to focus and continually improve the strengths, not focus on how to improve a persons weaknesses. The great benefit I found is that it gives you the different types of profiles and how to manage to those people.

When my wife and I got married we did what almost every couple did which was register at various stores for china, utensils, and other items you need when starting out. We went through a few wedding showers and got exactly what we had put down on the list. Unfortunately someone gave us a wedding gift that we thought was a video rewinder. Based on the popularity of Disney’s hit High School Musical 2 this could be the “Grease” for the new millennium. There are already plans to have a movie and additional follow-ups to this hugely successful. My kids love this show and have the first one on DVD and will sure to get the newest one when it comes out along with the music CD. While I see the story line continuing it could make for some interesting times as the characters get older. Do you introduce new characters, or just let the story  line end once they all head off to college.

We have introduced a new blog called Community Thought. It’s tag line is ” Building a community one thought at a time” we hope to make this a blog that will actually involve the reader and gain attention as a place to really add to an ongoing process. This is a development in progress, and it will probably take on many new faces and directions. Last night as we saw results from the elections, I was amazed at how early the news sources were calling most of the races. There was one in Ohio, where they showed the Republican Congressman ahead by 5K votes, with only 1% of the precincts, but had made the call that the Democratic challenger had already won? WHAT? I nearly threw my remote through the TV. The left wing media should give the American public some credit and not start to insult our intellegince with such rhetoric.

While the outcome of the mid-year elections were not in favor of the Republicans, the public has spoken and the war was obviously playing a big part. The great part of about our country is that we are free to vote, and express our opinions, and I think some people forget that freedom comes with a price. We will wait and see what the public sentiment is when the Presidential elections take place. I hope that we can see past the negativity and elect those who will not be afraid to take a stand for the country.
